… Avo & Egg<\/span><\/h4>\n

Ok so I think in my last blog I promised to get up to date over that weekend.\u00a0 I didn\u2019t.\u00a0 So like the last one, this one will also be a test of my memory.\u00a0 So this one is an avocado on toast recipe.\u00a0 There are four in the book.\u00a0 I have done three.\u00a0 On doing the first one I said that I would have to do the one with a poached egg at some point and I was both looking forward to it and dreading it.\u00a0 You see I actually do have a pretty good memory and so writing a blog post about a meal I cooked almost a month ago is actually ok.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

It was over three years ago that I poached an egg for the first time. Now I guess that most people who do something for the first time would do it in private.\u00a0 Just for themselves.\u00a0 Or at least in semi privacy. Maybe for their partner or a close friend.\u00a0 I cooked eggs benedict for sixteen people.\u00a0 Ok they were mostly my family but not all of them were and it was sixteen people. And it was for Christmas eve (or may be boxing day \u2013 my memory is not that good) breakfast.\u00a0 So it was a kinda important thing.\u00a0 I found out that poaching eggs is not that easy.\u00a0 Poaching eggs for sixteen people that you are trying to serve simultaneously is really not that easy at all.\u00a0 I was more than a little stressed.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

All that to say, I wasn\u2019t confident that my second attempt at poaching eggs would be a success.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Basically I have a rule that I won\u2019t cook any of these meals again until I have cooked them all.\u00a0 I break the rule for these types of recipes.\u00a0 Today (that is in the fictional today that existed about three weeks ago) I am cooking breakfast\/ brunch for three people.\u00a0 This is a recipe for one and so I cook it three times.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Everything is easy.\u00a0 It\u2019s just making toast.\u00a0 Putting avocado on it.\u00a0 Some chilli and a few other bits and bobs.\u00a0 Everything that is except I have to poach an egg.\u00a0 Now I\u2019m cooking for three people and I do each one in turn, so I can time each.\u00a0 Despite this I have to poach four eggs.\u00a0 One ends up down the sink.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I really can\u2019t poach and egg very well. I love poached eggs.\u00a0 I had two for breakfast on Saturday (the real Saturday \u2013 not the Saturday in my fictional time line that exists in this blog post).\u00a0 But I can\u2019t cook them. In the end this is a lovely meal \u2013 or breakfast.\u00a0 And the poached eggs were ok.\u00a0 They were ok. Only ok.\u00a0 Can someone teach me to poach an egg?\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
