… Coddled Eggs & Tomato loaf\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n

I\u2019m in Gloucester cooking for my family tonight.\u00a0 I\u2018m in the process of moving and I\u2019m here with yet another carload of stuff I\u2019m storing up in the loft.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

This is one of those meals that\u2019s a bit unusual.\u00a0 There are three\/four different elements to the meal and not one\u2019s I\u2019d have thought to put together.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This meal has baked eggs.\u00a0 Baked eggs is a bit of an unusual dish.\u00a0 I have had them in\/with a few meals.\u00a0 Most often a cracked egg on the top of a pizza \u2013 I forget what it\u2019s called but it is one of my favorites. The eggs go in the oven first.\u00a0 Then it\u2019s on with prepping the bread.\u00a0 This is a bit of a fiddley and long job.\u00a0 Deep crisscrosses are cut into the bread.\u00a0 It takes a bit of care to make sure the bread doesn\u2019t fall to bits. There is a paste that\u2019s made in the food processor and then rubbed into the bread with several sprigs of thyme.\u00a0 I\u2019m not actually sure this is either the most efficient or effective means of getting the paste into the crisscross cuts!<\/span><\/p>\n

The eggs are to be cooked to \u201cyour liking\u201d.\u00a0 I wanted the yoke runny.\u00a0 They were done very early on in the process and came out the oven.\u00a0 The heat in the baking dish was such that the eggs continued to cook and I didn\u2019t have runny yokes \u2026<\/span><\/p>\n

At the end I managed to make a good bit of mess separating the poached fish from its skin and adding it to the veg.<\/span><\/p>\n

This is one of those meals that\u2019s surprisingly delicious.\u00a0 It is definitely worth a go.\u00a0 It\u2019s quite a hearty meal with the baked eggs and bread.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

If I did this meal again I\u2019d not do the eggs first.\u00a0 I think I\u2019d get the bread done, the veg on and the fish poaching and then do the eggs towards the end.\u00a0 I think they\u2019d be a bit runny then.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
