It\u2019s Tuesday night and I\u2019m off to see Danny Bhoy<\/a> tonight.\u00a0 Now, all I know about Danny Bhoy is that he is a comedian and he\u2019s Scottish.\u00a0 The reason I know about Danny Bhoy is that a few weeks before the Edinburgh Festival he was doing a short run of shows in Edinburgh (a warm up show for his Edinburgh run?), and my dad went to see him.\u00a0 The reason my dad went to see him was because he (Bhoy) has only one prop for his show. A bar stool.\u00a0 The theatre he was in did not have a bar stool in their collection of props.\u00a0 Someone was dispatched to the nearest pub<\/a> to borrow a bar stool.\u00a0 It just so happened that the pub\u00a0was my dad\u2019s local.\u00a0 Actually it is not that local.\u00a0 It\u2019s a twenty minute bus ride from his house.\u00a0 But the point is that it is the pub my dad frequents.\u00a0 As a thank you to the pub for lending the bar stool for a few nights they are given a couple of tickets.\u00a0 Which in turn my dad is given.\u00a0 (I suspect as a thank you for being one of their best customers). Anyway all that to is say: my dad enjoyed Danny Bhoy, and that\u2019s why I got tickets for me and some friends to see him.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Ok I know this is a food blog, so here goes \u2026<\/span><\/p>\n

Before going to the show I cooked this for my friends Ed (my American road trip<\/a> buddy), Andrew and Gavin.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This was a great meal.\u00a0 I had the feeling it would be quite a bit of intense cooking at the start.\u00a0 Then a break. Then a bit of quick finishing off.<\/span><\/p>\n

I wasn\u2019t entirely right.\u00a0 It was relatively solid cooking.\u00a0 Making the fat fingers for the Kofta (or more accurately shaping them) took a bit of time.\u00a0 There are a lot of ingredients tonight.\u00a0 Lots of good stuff.\u00a0 Lots of flavour.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I did it in just over fifteen minutes.\u00a0 And even then I forgot to take the poppadoms out the microwave.\u00a0 They were cooked.\u00a0 But they weren\u2019t on the table.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I like this meal. It\u2019s among my favourites.\u00a0 I also liked that I did it, for my friends before we went out to do something pre-planned.\u00a0 Planned long before I ever thought about doing this project.\u00a0 Tonight was exactly what this project<\/a> was about.\u00a0 The project was about cooking good, quick food, for other people, eating with other people, before I got on with whatever it is I was doing on a Tuesday night.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s Tuesday.\u00a0 I cooked. For others.\u00a0 I eat with others. I then did what I do on a Tuesday.\u00a0 Not that I see a show every Tuesday. But that\u2019s what I had planned to do this Tuesday.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

By the way my friend Hannah cooked this for her husband Tom the other night.\u00a0 He told me it was his favourite fifteen minute meal to date.\u00a0 So I thought I\u2019d try it.\u00a0 It was great.\u00a0 It was one of my favoruites too.\u00a0 (Should I be offended that of all the fifteen minute meals he has had cooked for him, the one I have not cooked for him, is his favourite?)<\/span><\/p>\n

I would recommend that if you are ever in Edinburgh, and you like real ale, and you like acoustic music, that you go to my dad\u2019s pub<\/a>*.\u00a0 I would recommend that if you ever get the chance that you go to see Danny Bhoy<\/a>.\u00a0 And I would recommend that you cook this meal.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
