Tonight is my church<\/a> home group night and its meant to be at my house and I\u2019m meant to have people for dinner before hand.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Rain calls off play.\u00a0 This morning I only barely got into work.\u00a0 The roads were so flooded.\u00a0 My battered old car didn\u2019t let me down though! Nevertheless it doesn\u2019t feel right to make people drive in weather like this and so it\u2019s called off.\u00a0 And so I\u2019m cooking for just two tonight.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I am very glad that I had chosen this dish.\u00a0 It looks warm and comforting and exactly like the kind of meal you should have on a bleak raining night.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Despite my excitement to eat this meal, I\u2019m remarkably sure that I won\u2019t do it remotely in time.\u00a0 If I was feeling a bit slow last night, \u00a0I just wasn\u2019t feeling like I could cook at any speed at all tonight.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Three or four minutes in my confidence grow.\u00a0 There really are a lot of ingredients tonight, but it feels like I\u2019m really getting though the recipe.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I made quite a bit of mess.\u00a0 More because I prepared the salad on the worktop and carried it to the serving platter on the table, rather than plating on the worktop and carrying the plate to the table, which would have been a much more sensible thing to do.<\/span><\/p>\n

There are pears in this recipe.\u00a0 Cooked pears.\u00a0 Or rather griddled pears.\u00a0 Gavin is skeptical. I am not.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019m done in less than fifteen minutes.\u00a0 I\u2019m happy and this makes up for last nights, slightly disappointing, time.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This meal is really lovely.\u00a0 There is so much salad.\u00a0 It\u2019s a messy one to eat and my trousers are now more than a little worse for ware from the spillage that they suffered.\u00a0 In part I think this was due to the greedy manner in which I approached the first few bites \u2026 I really need to stop leaving my packed lunch in the fridge when I go to work in the morning \u2026<\/span><\/p>\n

The pears were great, Gavin was converted.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jimmy Eat world<\/a>\u2019s record – Bleed American, provided the background music tonight.\u00a0 It\u2019s one of those records that makes me feel old because I remember loving it when it first came out and that was more than ten years ago!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
